Wes Anderson, the director behind The Royal Tennenbaums and The Grand Budapest Hotel has declared he intends to create theme park designed by Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh.
The announcement appeared in the foreword that Anderson wrote for a book of art by the Devo founder Mothersbaugh, called Myopia.
Anderson wrote (via Wired) "I hope to soon secure the means to commission the construction of an important and sizeable theme park to be conceived and designed entirely by Mark Mothersbaugh". One suspects a funicular and a ski-slope will be included.
The pair have a long history working together. Mothersbaugh composed the music for Anderson's Rushmore (1998) The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) and Moonrise Kingdom (2012).
Mothersbaugh says that his "love of art started early in his childhood. Just after it was discovered that he was incredibly near-sighted and legally blind".
Devo recently toured the US and Canada showcasing experimental material recorded from 1974-1978. Later this month they will release Miracel Witness Hour a DVD filmed in 1977 of the band performing in a biker bar called The Eagle Street Saloon in Ohio.
