Joanna Gruesome have been crowned Welsh Music Prize winners with their debut album 'Weird Sister'.

The art-rockers, who met after meeting at an anger management counselling group, beat off competition from Manic Street Preachers, Cate Le Bon, 9 Bach, Euros Childs, Future of the Left, Gruff Rhys, Gulp, Samoans, Slowly Rolling Camera, The Gentle Good and The People The Poet to take home the award at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff.

Check out their video for Sugarcrush below.

Created by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stevens and music promoter John Rostron four years ago to honour Welsh talent, previous winners have included Future Of The Left and Gruff Rhys.

Stephens said of the win: " A big thanks to our judges who chose Joanna Gruesome's Weird Sister as the winner. They've come a long way and continue to thrive, so a massive congratulations to all involved with Joanna Gruesome!'

Rostron added: "Huge congratulations to Joanna Gruesome. They're a brilliant young band with a strong sense of identity and have released a terrific debut album. Their record resonated with the judges who were universal in their praise. I hope that many new people now seek them out and buy a copy!"

'Weird Sister' is out now.
