Perry’s performance will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on February 1 and will have a hard act to follow; last year’s Super Bowl halftime show was played by Bruno Mars (who was joined by special guests Red Hot Chili Peppers) and drew in a record 112 million American viewers.

Rumours have emerged since this event that the NFL is reportedly demanding that in the future artists have to pay to play the half-time show. This rumours spread when a spokesperson sent Rolling Stone a statement which exposed how musicians’ sales increase by around 150-400 percent after they play the iconic event. The NFL has yet to confirm these claims.
However, Perry is adamant that she did not pay to perform at this year’s event, telling ESPN’s College Game Day: “I’m not the kind of girl who’s pay to play the Super Bowl.”
