Phil Manzanera has covered Jay Z and Kanye West's 'No Church In The Wild', after the hip-hop duo sampled him.
The lead guitarist with Roxy Music has announced that his new album The Sound Of Blue, released on 23 March, will feature a cover of the track from Watch The Throne.
The album, released on Manzanera's own Epxression Records label, is a series of 10 instrumentals, with his Kanye and Jay-Z cover requiring the added assistance of Sonia Bernardo.

When producing the original 'No Church In The Wild', 88 Keys, Mike Dean and West used the guitar riff from 'K Scope' from Manzanera's second solo album, as well as elements from tracks by English rock band Spooky Tooth and James Brown.

The Sound of Blue’s is intended as a musical memoir and features a short film created of iPhone and Super 8 footage. Manzanera explained about the album: “When I write instrumental music I think about a possible narrative for each track. During the writing of The Sound of Blue it started evoking memories and emotions that I hadn’t revisited in years: my 60’s childhood in Latin America, Magdalena, my Colombian mother, the heady days in the 70’s of early Roxy Music, music adventures in Spain and Sweden, days spent exploring Cornwall…..and the unlikely musical coming together with two global rap stars. The Sound of Blue and its short films is in effect a sort of musical memoir.”
