After taking home four Grammys, Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour looks set to top the album charts for a sixth week
Following taking home four awards at this weekend's Grammy Awards - including Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album - Smith's debut LP is on course to spend a sixth non-consecutive week at number one.
Official Charts company are reporting that even though In The Lonely Hour first topped the chart for two weeks in June 2014, it is currently 200 copies ahead of Kodaline's Coming Up For Air in this weeks chart.
Other new entries in the album chart include Peace, whose second LP Happy People is No.4, Father John Misty's album is at 14, The Subways LP at No.19 and Black Rivers excellent self-titled debut at No.22.
On stage collecting his Record Of The Year award earlier this week Smith thanked his ex for inspiring the songs. "I want to thank the man this record is about... for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys," he said. Naturally online there was much comparison to Adele's 2012 speech along similar lines - but Adele doesn't have the monopoly on heartbreak.
Speaking to Gigwise last year, Smith said, "I really do have faith that people want to hear what I have to say about anything, and it's about my vocal as well. I've made the promise to myself that my music will be the documentary of my life, so whatever happens next will be written about."
