Even though his latest album, World On Fire, came out less than a year ago and he’s still on the road supporting the release, Slash has revealed that he’s already begun writing and road-testing new material.
Speaking with Classic Rock Magazine at Australia’s Soundwave Festival, Slash shared that he has already started working on new music. “On the road is the platform that I find is the easiest for me to work on new material,” he said.
“It’s easier here than it is for me to do when I’m at home. So I just get going. I take my phone and I record ideas on the phone and then we jam stuff at soundchecks; when we have soundchecks. So we compile a bunch of ideas, and then when the tour is over, we go home and, sort of, hash them out.”
He also discussed his plans to produce another horror film, in follow-up to his 2013 release Nothing Left To Fear. Slash said: “I’ve been reading a lot of stuff by writers who are people I might work with in the horror genre movie space. I’ve been reading a lot of more or less unknown writers’ works to see which guys might fit. Right now I’m reading Adam Neville’s The Ritual. It’s awesome so far.”
Slash recently joined his fellow former Guns N’ Roses members Duff McKagan and Gilby Clarke on stage in Argentina to perform ‘Paradise City’.
