Alex Turner's Best British Album award speech was one of the big talking points of the 2014 BRIT Awards, for better or for worse, but the band's double win has seen demand for their live shows soar in the days since the event.
Online ticket retailer Viagogo has reported a huge increase of 195% in online searches for Arctic Monkeys in the hours following the 2014 BRIT Awards, a bigger increase than for any other winner on the night.
"While Alex Turner appears to have taken a bit of stick across social media for his rock star posturing on the night, it clearly hasn’t dented demand for Arctic Monkeys tickets," says a spokesperson for Viagogo.
"For demand for the band’s gigs to be almost twice that of global super star Beyoncé and nearly four times that of Bruno Mars shows that a strong live performance combined with a touch of traditional BRITs controversy is the formula for success."
Other artists reported to have seen huge online search increases include Beyonce, who performed 'XO' at the ceremony, and Katy Perry, who took to the stage to perform her new hit, 'Dark Horse'. One Direction ticket searches for One Direction surged by 74%.
