Rhys Webb says price guaranteed a No.1 album for the London star, who has topped the midweeks

London band The Horrors have criticised Lily Allen's record label for selling her new album for as little as 99p to ensure the pop singer scored a No.1 hit.
It seems to have worked, the 'Hard Out Here' singer is currently set for a chart topper this week, with Sheezus at No.1 in the midweek chart and set to knock Paolo Nutin from the top spot. However, the album was sold on Google Play for just 99p - although it is now on sale from the store at £4.99 and was only sold at that price for 24 hours. This doesn't sit well with The Horrors, who also have their new album out this week. Luminous is currently at No.6 in the midweek chart.
"Her record company have done that to give Lily a surefire number one," says bassist Rhys Webb in an interview with The Daily Star. "Albums should be something that are there for a lifetime."
Webb also praises US superstar Beyonce, revealing that the 'Drunk In Love' singer is an unlikely influence on their new album.
"Beyoncé doesn't sound the most obvious influence on our music but her songs are like modern-day Motown classics and we identify more with that than we do with our contemporaries," he added.
