The modern age is an amazing time for music fans: a world of music beamed straight from 'the cloud' straight into the palm of your hand. That's all very fancy and impressive, but let's not forget about the lifeblood of musical discovery - those amazing independent and smaller record stores. Here are 14 of the UK's best.
There's much more to running a record store than just leaving some CDs and vinyl out in crates and letting folk hand over cash - it's about offering an experience. That experience is one of community, celebration, knowledge and atmosphere. That's what all of these record stores have in abundance.
Some have been around for generations and gone down in rock n' roll history, others are relatively new but still showing the world how it's done. Of course we can't list them all, but here are 20 of the UK's most brilliant and renowned record stores.
