Ed Sheeran has performed a cover of Lorde's 'Royals' on New Zealand radio - having taught himself to play it during the two and a half minutes prior to his performance. Watch it below.

The British singer was being interviewed on the New Zealand radio station The Edge, and was asked to learn an acoustic cover of 'Royals', a song by one of the country's most famous exports, Lorde.

"Ed has literally during that two minute twenty five second song, taught himself 'Royals' by Lorde," explained the show's presenter. "He's never ever sung this song acoustically before, this is the first time."

Just think how good it would have been if he'd had a whole five minutes to practise.

Sheeran's new album X is set for release in June, and features the single 'Sing', which was produced by Pharrell Williams.
