Fall Out Boy have spoken out about their decision to choose the seemingly unlikely selections of Professor Green and Matt & Kim for their current UK tour.
The band's American Beauty/American Psycho tour kicked off last week before tearing up the rest of the country before arriving in Wembley. However, the band did raise a few eyebrows when the pop-punk heroes choose the UK rap of Professor Green to open for them. We asked them what they were thinking.
"Often times in the US, that will end up being the flagship tour of the record," Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz tells Gigwise, "we find that we want a challenge. This time we had Wiz Khalifa and found that we had to win some of his fans round and they might like what they hear and go deeper. When we do that, lots of times we get questions from around the world like 'why don't you bring that tour here?' So we were like, what if we did kind of like a UK version of that tour?
"That's where we brought in Professor Green. Even bringing in Matt & Kim, it was a totally different genre from us too."

Speaking of their evolution as a live band, frontman Patrick Stump said: "We've gotten a lot better, and I say that only partially sarcastically because I think there is something to the comfort level on stage. Looking at the others I'm like, 'this band got really good'.
"I always like playing in Fall Out Boy because I get to see Fall Out Boy play. I didn't used to think that - when we were a little basement band, I would not say we were the best band. I will take full responsibility for that as I didn't know how to play my instrument, but it's definitely awesome to see Fall Out Boy now."
