The director of the sensational Amy Winehouse documentary, Asif Kapadia, will be taking the role of an executive producer for the upcoming Oasis film that's due out next year.
"Oasis are without a doubt one of the classic British rock bands, selling 70 million albums worldwide and defining the sound of a whole era", said Independent director Andrew Orr about the undertaking of this monster project, especially considering the commercial success of the filmmakers last project, Amy.
Working with executive-director Mat Whitecross, the filmmakers have reportedly been given 'unprecedented access to the band and unseen archive footage' which should make tackling the most turbulent split in recent rock history slightly easier.
Orr continued: "Mat's sensibility and style are going to provide the perfect complement to this tale of the rise of one of the great rock and roll bands." There have been no details released as of yet about a trailer or what the film will actually document but Screen Daily reports that Independent Film Sales will launch the film at industry event AFM, which occurs between 4-11 November.

The aftermath of the film's release has been less than smooth featuring a huge pushback from Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse. The public have welcomed the movie with open arms and a gross of £3.44 million, where Mitch has been keeping himself occupied protesting 'disgusting' Channel 5 documentaries.
