A few months back, Blur's Damon Albarn told the press that Adele's new material was "very middle of the road," describing the singer as "very insecure." Now, Adele has responded.

Speaking to The Sun back in September, Albarn said, "Adele asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her. And I’m not a producer, so … I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. Let’s wait and see. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young."

He added, "I heard the work she did with my friend Brian, aka Danger Mouse. It’s very middle of the road."

Now, in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Adele has said, "It ended up being one of those 'don't meet your idol' moments. And the saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up. But it was sad, and I regret hanging out with him."

As for whether the pair ended up finishing a song, the singer didn't mince her words. "No! None of it was right. None of it suited my record. He said I was insecure, when I'm the least-insecure person I know. I was asking his opinion about my fears, about coming back with a child involved - because he has a child - and then he calls me insecure?"

Adele, who described herself as a feminist in the interview, also criticised the media's tendency to compare her favourably to female musicians who wear more revealing outfits. "I'd rather not be the person that everyone gets pitted against," she said.

She continued, "If they do decide to get their body out, I would rather not be that person, because that's just pitting a woman against another woman, and I don't hold any more moral high ground than anyone else. So that has pissed me off a bit. Not that I'm going to start getting my tits out now!"

Adele's third album, 25, is due for release on 20 November. See the full tracklisting below.
