Glastonbury line-up 2016 - festival rumours confirm James to open Photo: wenn

The line-up for Glastonbury 2016 continues to grow, as it now emerges that Britpop veterans James will be opening the festival.

While this weekend saw rumours confirmed when Adele announced that she'd be headlining the Saturday of Glasto, now it seems the 'Sit Down' rockers will be the first band to perform on The Other Stage on the Friday of the event.

“We’re going to cut the ribbon and smash the champagne on the ship," frontman Tim Booth told BBC 5 Live, reports DIY

James meanwhile, look set to score their first No.1 in 18 years, following the release of their 18th studio album, Girl At The End Of The World - ahead of the likes of Iggy Pop and Underworld.

While Art Garfunkel looks tipped to play according to comments made by his guitarist, this comes just after Jess Glynne inadvertantly confirmed herself for Glastonbury 2016, where she joins Jeff Lynne's ELO, PJ Harvey, Friday headliners Muse and Sunday headliners Coldplay

Last month saw the Eavis' reveal that the full line-up will be revealed by April. Plans for a huge David Bowie tribute have also been announced. In other Glastonbury news, they recently announced that the legendary John Peel Tent will be moved, and when tickets will go on re-sale
