The Kills and Dead Weather frontwoman Alison Mosshart has contributed words to a children's charity book, 'Stories For Ways & Means'. You can listen to her narration of the story below.

Described as a collection of 'grown up' children's tales, the book also features contributions from some of music's biggest names including Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Laura Marling and Frank Black from Pixies.

Mosshart's story 'Wishing Well Fountain' takes the reader on a journey through a bustling city at night time. "Welcome to the big city baby, why don't we go for a walk.." she begins, inviting the audience into her surreal world,  married with illustrations by Dan Baldwin and ambient city sounds.

Proceeds from the book will benefit non profit organisations such as Room To Read, Pencils Of Promise, and 826 National, which all help towards improving children's literacy across the globe.

Meanwhile, The Kills have just been announced to appear at Germany's Melt Festival and NOS Alive in Portugal this summer.
