Sam Smith has scored the fastest selling album of 2014 with his debut release, In The Lonely Hour, and secured himself a place as one of the biggest new stars in the UK, as he takes this week's No.1 album.
The 22-year star knocks Coldplay from the top of the UK albums chart, after they hit No.1 with their new album, Ghost Stories, last week. Paolo Nutini is at No.3, Paloma Faith at No.4 and Michael Jackson's latest collection of posthumous recordings at No.5.
Other new entries on the UK album chart include Mariah Carey's Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse at No.14, Neil Young's A Letter Home at No.17, Royksopp and Robyn's Do It Again collaboration at No.20, Peter Andre's Big Night at No.23 and Sharon Van Etten's Are We There at No.27.
On the singles chart, Sam Smith slips to No.2 with his track 'Stay With Me', while SecondCity's 'I Wanna Feel' enters at No.1. New hits inside the Top Ten include Klingande at No.3 with 'Jubel' and Ellie Goulding at No.9 with 'Beating Heart'. Also new are Twin Atlantic at No.17 with 'Heart & Soul' and Lana Del Rey at No.21 with 'West Coast'.
