James Murphy's record label DFA have denied that the former LCD Soundsystem frontman and producer has been working with New Order.
Earlier this week, an interview with Consequence of Sound got the indie and dance world excited when New Order's Bernard Sumner and Tom Chapman were open about discussing acts they would like to collaborate with in the future, but somewhat coy when the DFA label boss came into conversation.
When asked if they would consider working with Murphy, Sumner paused before saying: "I can’t talk about any of that just yet, but there is news, we’re in the process…"
Now, DFA have clarified the situation in typically brilliant blunt terms:
Dear click-baiting websites who all have our email - there is zero truth to the DFA/New Order news. How come no one bothers to check facts?✅

We struggle to see how Murphy would have had the time anyway. As well as recently directing his own movie, managing DFA, producing Arcade Fire's Reflektor, remixing David Bowie, taking his incredble Despacio soundsystem around the world with 2ManyDJs, penning the score for Noah Baumbach's forthcoming movie While We're Young, attempting to make all of the turnstiles on the NYC subway play a tune and selling his own signature coffee, he's found the time to launch a project to turn data from the US Open Tennis tournament into 400 hours of music for some reason.
That's enough for us. Keep it up, James.
