The Head of Music at BBC Radio 1 has spoken of the resurgence of mainstream rock music's popularity - thanks in part to the stratospheric rise of Royal Blood.
The band recently celebrated a double victory, after not only claiming the No.1 album spot but also scoring the fastest-selling rock debut in three years.
The Brighton rock duo and Gigwise favourites managed to shift an impressive 66,000 copies over the last week, more than any rock debut's first seven days since Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ in 2011.

George Ergatoudis, the Head of Music at Radio 1 and 1Xtra, tweeted to say that their "music research" has shown "amazing results in rock in recent weeks", before linking to the Twitter handles of Royal Blood, Lower Than Atlantis, You Me At Six and Mallory Knox.
