Simone Battle, of the US girlband G.R.L., has died at the age of just 25.
The cause of her death has been reported as an apparent suicide after she was found hanging in a closet in her apartment. The news of her passing was confirmed in a joint statement from Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, Kemosabe Records, and RCA Records.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L.," they said. "Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time."
Battle first appeared on the US version of the X Factor in 2011, before Antin (creator of the Pussycat Dolls), asked her to join new band G.R.L. in 2013.
The band were on course to enter the UK top five with new single 'Ugly Heart' this week.
