Sam Smith has knocked Royal Blood off the top of the Official Albums Chart with his album In The Lonely Hour.
Much to the delight of anyone with even a passing interest in guitar rock, Royal Blood became the No.1 album in the country last week. As previously reported they scored the fastest selling rock debut in three years with almost 66,000 copies sold. However the resurging appeal of Sam Smith proved too much for them with In The Lonely Hour now topping the chart once again.
Such was the success of Royal Blood that George Ergatoudis, the Head of Music at Radio 1 and 1Xtra, tweeted recently to say that their "music research" has shown "amazing results in rock in recent weeks".
