Mark Ronson is streaming his brilliant new album Uptown Special online in full, a week ahead of release.

The 'Uptown Funk' chart-topper and producer is streaming his fourth solo album as a recording artist over The Guardian - where there's also a track-by-track guide written by the man himself.

Writing about his No.1 single 'Uptown Funk', Ronson says: "This came out of a jam in Bruno’s studio in LA. He was on drums, Jeff [Bhasker] on synths, me on bass. We got the basic groove and, with Phil Smeeze joining in, we wrote the lyrics to the first verse.

"Six months later we finished the song in Toronto. Bruno’s a good drummer."

Ronson also describes his delight at having Stevie Wonder perform a song he had written, how writing with Rufus Wainwright assisted the process and how he was influenced by Kanye West's 808 & Heartbreak.

The album features Bruno Mars, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, rapper Mystikal, novelist Michael Chabon and Stevie Wonder.

Mark Ronson releases Uptown Special on 19 January. Look out for Gigwise's review later this week.
