Norwegian disco idol Todd Terje makes a rather understated and low key entrance for a producer/DJ who has captured everyone’s attention over the last couple of years with his throwback beats and innovative sampling. Casually strolling on stage to a rapturous response, Terje wastes no time in in getting this Christmas party moving.
A new look live show sees Terje going solo. Armed with his trusty Nord Stage 2 keyboard and a laptop, despite the crowd’s enthusiasm, the set doesn’t pack quite the same punch as his previous shows with his band The Olsens. That being said the enthusiasm from the audience is justified as a mesmeric light show provides a backdrop to the big drops Terje has become so famed for.
Seamlessly running through numbers from his brilliantly titled 2014 debut album ‘It’s Album Time’, some of his most known tracks like ‘Lanzarote’, ‘Delorean Dynamite’, ‘Oh Joy’, ‘Strandbar’ are remarkably well received.
Unsurprisingly though, the biggest reaction is for "Inspector Norse," a track you cannot and do not want to get away from. As the opening swooshes are being teased in the mix all in attendance give themselves a little more room to enjoy what is undoubtedly one of the biggest dance anthems of recent years.
At this point the evening steps up another notch as Terje is joined on stage by a group of glamourous dancers who dazzle with a loosely choreographed routine. This adds another element to the show and you can’t help feeling that it would have been good to see this visual wonder utilised throughout the set.
