The fuzzy haired Australian rockers are back all guns blazing with their 4th studio album, the rather ambitiously named 'Victorious'.

If you like your music hard, heavy and with heaps of riffs then Victorious will be right up your street. Wolfmother haven't broken the mould here, they've used it to form a well rounded heavy rock album. From the outset Victorious grabs you by the lapels and shakes your senses into submission; if you're not temped to raise your hand aloft, devil horns ablaze, then something’s wrong.

Victorious has received the magic touch from veteran rock producer Brendan O’Brien; a guy who’s had 14 of the albums he’s produced reach the number 1 spot in the U.S, albums from artists such as Springsteen, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Incubus and RATM to name a just a few. With those credentials what you get is a well produced, full on rock ‘n’ roll album with no frills or fanciness.

Perhaps as expected there’s a sense of Sabbath and Zeppelin about this album, you’d be forgiven for mistaking singer Andrew Stockdale for a young Ozzy Osbourne. Standout tracks are the raucous opener The love That You Give and anthemic title track Victorious. Fortunately there’s a couple of slow ones thrown in at opportune moments where the listener can get their breath back, these are far from album fillers and provide balance to what is predominantly a set of rock songs.

After listening to 35minutes of enjoyable blistering breakneck rock songs it seems Victorious was a suitable name to choose. When the boys from Oz land on UK shores the new songs will undoubtably fit nicely with their back catalogue and contribute to the barrage of sound that is Wolfmother live.
