It's been just over a year since You Me At Six established their status as a band ready to take it to the next level of headlining shows with their live album, Final Night of Sin. With Wembley Arena successfully ticked off, the next step for the Weybridge quintet was to end their tour of the UK by putting on another strong performance at the historic Alexander Palace.
The night began in good fashion with opening acts Young Kato and Don Broco. For a relatively unheard band, a night on this scale for the Cheltenham sextet however didn’t seem to faze them. The latter can be said as well for second support act Don Broco. The band are good tour mates with You Me At Six and their set definitely justified that they were the right pick to set up the final act of the evening.
You Me At Six’s latest album, Cavalier Youth, scored a well-deserved number one in the UK charts and it was only fitting that the opening tracks of the night should be from it. 'Too Young to Feel this Old' and 'Fresh Start Fever' got the Alley Pally sold out crowd jumping, and with a trip down Memory Lane for 'Stay With Me' and 'Little Death', the crowd was right in the palm of frontman Josh Franceschi’s hands.
Mid set, the band paused and gave thanks to the crowd with tales of many years ago playing the tiny Camden Barfly venue. The also gave thanks to the life of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain who’s tragic death had been 20 years to the day. Final tracks of the evening ended the evening with some well laid out tickertape pyrotechnics for the encore and final, track 'Lived A Lie'''C.
