Arcade Fire violinist, Sarah Neufeld, has announced a new solo album titled The Ridge. This is the second post-Reflektor release from any member of the Canadian band, the last was Will Butler's Policy earlier this year. Listen to the title track from Neufeld's The Ridge below.
The violinist has appeared on all the Arcade Fire albums to date. She was considered a core member of the group for the band's second and third albums, Neon Bible and The Suburbs and a contributing musician for the first and fourth, Funeral and Reflektor.
Her last musical venture was a collaborative record with other Arcade Fire affiliate, Colin Stetson. The two released an experimental record earlier this year titled Never Were the Way She Was - solo albums are like the afterlife for tertiary bandmates.
The Ridge will be the second full-length studio album from Sarah Neufeld following on from her debut, Hero Brother, that was released back in 2013. It's an eight track release that digs into the experimental pathways Neufeld has been following in her solo efforts for years.
The title track is an eight-minute string led masterwork that slowly unfurls into a vast post-rock soundscape with breathy vocals and cascading dynamics.

If you still need your new Arcade Fire song fix, the band released two bonus Reflektor tracks, titled 'Get Right' and 'Crucified Again' to commemorate the deluxe edition of the 2013 album. This happened about the same time as the release of the band's documentary film, The Reflektor Tapes. There's very little news in the way of a new album or tour. We'll just have to sit tight and await what the Canadian band have in store for us next.
