Beyonce has released a short clip where she transforms the lyrics from Prince’s classic Darling Nikki’ to create a strange and humorous ode to Nicki Minaj. Check out the video below.
The video shows Beyonce singing, “I met a girl named Nicki / I guess you can say she was the rap queen.” It’s backed by footage of the stars rehearsing for their recent Tidal benefit show, which also showcased collaborations between Usher and Nas, and Jay Z with Fabolous.
We're not really convinced that Nikki Minaj is the rap queen after she emerged on the music scene with a viscious flow, before quickly diverting into the glittered realm of throwaway pop. Either way, we don't want to mess with Jay Z's right hand lady so we'll stop. Also, we love a bit of controversy, and Miss Minaj is always good for a good ol' Twitter feud or on-stage shade throwing.
