Avoiding the rush of fans and papparazzi is an age-old problem for stars as big as Madonna - and she's reportedly found a rather novel (and not entirely legal) way of doing so. According to news reports, the singer used a fake police car with flashing lights after performing at The O2 as part of her Rebel Heart Tour.
The singer played a spectacular 23-song set at The O2 on Tuesday and Wednesday (1 and 2 December) - but it's what happened afterwards that is now getting headlines. The Sun reports that Madonna left the venue "in a black car fitted with blue and red flashing lights."
Fans speaking to the paper claimed that the singer was sitting in the back of the car on both nights of her O2 residency, and that they were "forced to move out of the path of the convoy as it made its way through, with some believing Madonna's vehicle was an unmarked police car."
One fan said, "Nobody was moving, then all of a sudden there's this huge commotion and I saw flashing lights and heard a horn beeping. Then I saw a car and we figured it was an undercover cop. It was beeping so all the traffic let it through."
It is, in fact, illegal, to install flashing lights on a car - but it's the driver, not the passenger, who would potentially face charges. According to the MailOnline, a person convicted of impersonating a police officer can face up to six months in prison.
