It’s not often that opportunities like this present themselves like this one but you’ve got to hand it to Ozzy Osbourne for grabbing it with both hands. The former Black Sabbath frontman sang his 1983 heavy metal classic, ‘Bark At The Moon’, during yesterday’s (August 22) full solar eclipse in Illinois.

The singer and his band took to the stage early and began performing their set just minutes before the skies over the United States turned dark as the moon passed between the Earth and the sun at around 1.20pm, central time.

The eclipse lasted for around seven minutes that gave the self-professed Prince of Darkness plenty of time to er… shine.

Ozzy and his band – which sees him reunited with guitarist Zakk Wylde - were performing at the appropriately named Moonfest 2017. The singer told the crowd: “I don’t think I’ve ever been in this part of the world before. I love you all. Thank you for coming to see me.”

This is pretty amazing footage, not least because of the speed in which day turns to night and then back again.

Meanwhile, Ozzy and his former band, heavy metal originators Black Sabbath, are gearing up for the release of their film, The End Of The End. The live action film captures the metal legends in concert at their final show at their homecoming gig at the Genting Arena in Birmingham earlier this year. The movie will be shown in 1500 cinemas around the world for one night only on September 28.
