Just 24 hours after revealing that he worked with both Frank Ocean and Earl Sweatshirt, King Krule – aka Archy Marshall - is back in his own right with a new song, ‘Czech One’, a video and details of UK live dates for November and December.
The video for ‘Czech One’ has been directed by Frank Lebon, who has previously directed videos for Obongjayar and Mount Kimble, and pretty damn trippy it is, too. With a lot of the action taking place on a plane, the video captures the sense of tiredness, confusion and dislocation that comes with jet leg as Marshall finds himself wondering through city streets and quite possibly reality. Indeed, it becomes hard to work out what’s real and what’s a dream while the track itself straddles the worlds of jazz, hip-hop and rap.
‘Czech One’ is released on 7” vinyl via True Panther/XL on September 13. It’s backed by another new song, ‘Dum Surfer’.
