Atlanta-based trio Omni have put out their new single and video for ‘Southbound Station’, a track taken from their forthcoming second album Multi-Task. Watch/listen to it on Gigwise below.
This song alone is enough to turn us into fans of the band. It's not often an underground band come along that are so immediately likeable. They caught our ear for angular post punk and 60s-esque blissed out melodies and appeal to us as fans of the likes of Ultimate Painting, Massachusetts rockers The Modern Lovers and Germany’s 39 Clocks.
The band may be on their second album but have made baby steps this side. But their decision to tour around the album release date (22 September) in the UK, implies they're ready to make their mark here having already charmed the indie press and gathered a small, but devout fanbase in the USA. They've got a sound that will do incredibly well over here.
Of the song streaming below, the band said: "'Southbound Station' is a song about being young in Atlanta, barely aware of anything beyond your immediate surroundings. There was always a sense of urgency to make it to the next destination where there may be a lover or a house show to attend. Years disappeared into the drunken void as I got to know the city—a charming yet challenging experience at the same time."
