The viral sensation that is 'rick-rolling' has been struck with a mighty blow. The original 'Rickroll'D' YouTube video of Rick Astley song 'Never Gonna Give You Up' has been taken down.
Having racked up over 71 million YouTube views, the video that was used on unsuspecting victims as a bait and switch meme, known as 'rick-rolling', has now been banned in several countries including the USA.
The video was titled 'RickRoll'D' and uploaded by the user cotter548. It was not the official video upload.
billboard reports that there has been no word as to why the video has been taken down, even from Astley himself. The video has been briefly taken down before in 2012, but it was put back up, so there's still hope.
Notable places that have been rick-rolled include the Church of Scientology, the MTV Music Awards and to thousands of people in Manchester when Astley toured with comedian Peter Kay in 2010.
