The Libertines have announced they will play new material at their Alexandra Palace shows later this year.
They broke the news to XFM, before they headlined Benicassim Festival in Spain on Saturday night. This means fans can expect to hear new material band at the London shows on 26, 27 and 28 September.
On the subject of new material, drummer Gary Powell recently said "We would all love to do some new material, but we have to make sure that everything is right in the world with everybody involved. It ends up being a labour of love, everybody has to be comfortable and in the right space in order to do so, that way you get the best work out of everybody."

Carl Barrett recently told NME when we should expect a new Libertines album. He said: "Next year, it has to be. I don't wanna just go on the road because then you'll get cabin fever and have an epic fallout. So yeah, I want to keep something fresh coming in. We just need to find the time."
The Libertines performed at Hyde Park earlier in July, a show that was marred by difficulties, leaving 38 fans injured and eight hospitalised during a crowd crush.
The Libertines are due to perform a three night residency at London Alexandra Palace on Friday 26 September to Sunday 28 September. The support acts are Peace, Swim Deep and Circa Waves. For more information visit Gigwise Tickets.
