It has been announced that frontman of Weezer River Cuomo has teamed up with Pysch creator Steve Franks for a new FOX comedy to be called DeTour.
Cuomo is as good a candidate as any to have a sitcom made about. He has drifted through roles as an academic and a rockstar and speaks Japaneese to a high standard - not to mention being one hell of a comedic frontman.
It is only going to be loosely based on the life of the Weezer frontman, a man who evades the limelight to pursue a self-fulfilling journey, similarly to how Cuomo began studying after the release of Weezer's The Blue Album, and continued to do so over the next eleven years.
As reported by THR, “DeTour would embellish [Cuomo's] journey with a fictional character and the small band of misfit friends that make it possible for him to get through his formative years.”
Weezer are set to release their ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, on 7 October.
