After CNN reported that long-time David Bowie producer Tony Visconti had promised an album of new material "soon", Visconti has taken to Twitter to deny the reports.
Bowie released The Next Day, his first new album in a decade, last year with no warning. It was subsequently nominated for the Mercury Prize, a Grammy and a BRIT. Earlier this month, the singer also revealed plans for a greatest hits album which will feature one new song, 'Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)'.
Yesterday, after an interview with CNN, Visconti was quoted as having revealed news of an album of brand new material: "There's gonna be another album, definitely... soon."
He has since sent a tweet directed at CNN which reveals he was misquoted, and that the "new music" is merely 'Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)'.
CNN, I didn't say new Bowie album 'soon'. I quoted THE MAN who said 'More Music Soon' on Bowienet. That music is Sue.

The producer also discussed the possibility of touring in the interview, and this quote has not since been disowned: "I don't think he's gonna busk in the tube... on the underground. As far as a concert is concerned I have no idea. He clearly didn't promote The Next Day with a concert and whether he does for the next one I don't know and I couldn't predict that - it's up to him. It's whatever takes his fancy."
