Corey Taylor has denied that new Slipknot track 'The Negative One', refers to ex-drummer Joey Jordison.

Rumours emerged after fans began to speculate the meaning behind the song reffered to Jordison's secretive exit from the band. One is the number he was assigned within the group, lending the lyrics "Your choices are the negative one" a new meaning.

Speaking to Metal Hammer, frontman Corey Taylor rubbished these claims, saying: "I did not associate the two things! It 's just a proof of how crazy is people! [...] The album is a summary of the last four years of the band, without an order precise, from the moment when Paul is gone when we came out from the study. Therefore, there are certain songs that relate to - not Joey in particular - but the tensions with which we all try to live together."

"'The Negative One' is about me, not about Joey," he added. "And that's why the song at one point says "your choices are bad ones and I," which in a sense are the two things that come to collide. Same goes for 'The Devil In I' ... "

Roadrunner Records will release Slipknot's new album 5: The Gray Chapter on 21 October.
