Spotify has named Glastonbury as the world's most influential festival, beating the likes of Reading & Leeds and T In The Park.
The massive online streaming service found the British event had the biggest impact after the site saw a 78% increase in streams for headliners Kasabian, Metallica and Arcade Fire. When the figures were broken down, the acts experienced a 57% rise in streams in the UK, and a 60% increase in the US.
Glastonbury's organiser, Emily Eavis told
Digital Spy, "That's fantastic news. It's amazing to think that the music we hear in these fields in Somerset at festival time is reaching out to so many people. She added "Hopefully we will carry on bringing the best new music - alongside the legends of course! - to Worthy Farm for many years to come."
Coming in at a close second on the list is Australia's Future Music Festival whose headliners, Pharrell Williams, Pheonix and Deadmau5 enjoyed an average streaming increase of 70%.
