The music-lovers' guide to the BFI London Film Festival
The 9 films every music buff has to see at this year's LFF
Whiplash: Starring Miles Teller as an ambitious, talented young dummer who is mentored by a ferocious instructor, Whiplash features original jazz songs from Tim Simonec as well as classics from Duke Ellington and Stan Getz. It took home the top audience and grand jury awards in the US drama category at Sundance this year, so could be a genuine highlight at the LFF.
With 248 films over 12 days in 17 venues, The BFI London Film Festival is an exciting but overwhelming prospect. If you know where to look though, there's plenty of gold to satisfy not only the most fastidious of film fans - particularly if you're also into music.
Having pored over the festival's impressive programme, here are nine essential films for music fans to watch this year.
