Radio DJ Neil Fox (known as 'Dr Fox') has reportedly been arrested over the alleged historical sexual assault of two women.
The DJ was taken into custody by police just minutes after finishing the breakfast show on Magic FM, after police allegedly searched his homes in London and Littlehampton, West Sussex.
Fox's reported arrest is said to be regarding the historical sexual assault of two women, with Scotland Yard explaining it was nothing to do with Operation Yewtree, an investigation historical abuse charges in the wake of the Jimmy Saville scandal.
For legal reasons police could not confirm it was Neil Fox who was arrested at the address this morning, however a statement was issued from Scotland Yard matching the DJ's description: "Officers from Westminster have this morning, Tuesday, 30 September, arrested a 53-year-old man following allegations of historic sexual assault against two women. The man remains in custody at a central London police station."
A Bauer Media spokesperson, who Magic FM, later confirmed: "Bauer Media can confirm that Neil Fox, presenter of the Magic Radio breakfast show, was today arrested by Westminster Police.
"He is currently being questioned about various allegations. In the circumstances Neil will be off air from tomorrow to enable him to devote his full attention to dealing with these matters. "All other aspects of his contract will remain unchanged while matters are resolved. We can make no further comment at this stage."
Fox first became a radio personality in the 1990's with an acclaimed and hugely popular show on Capital FM, before the DJ made a venture into TV and became a judge on Pop Idol alongside Simon Cowell.
He has been the breakfast show presenter on Magic FM since 2005, and has been a prominent figure in the industry for nearly two decades in a number of high profile jobs.
Legal representatives for Fox or the reported victims are yet to comment on today's alleged arrest.
