Jamie T has covered Townes Van Zandt's 1968 country hit 'Waiting Round To Die', listen below.
Appearing on BBC Radio 1 last night (1 October), the singer played a selection of tracks from his long awaited third album Carry On The Grudge, before taking on the country classic, which has apparently been a favourite of his for a long time.
Speaking during an interview with Zane Lowe, Jamie stated: "I've been a fan of Townes Van Zandt for a few years now and I think he's a beautiful songwriter. And I believe this is the first song he ever wrote - its just always struck a chord with me."
"I hope this version is not going to annoy people too much, because I think some people would call me a heathen for covering it, but I enjoy the song and if opens people up to Townes Van Zandt, all the better."
Jamie T also played 'Zombie' and 'Limits Lie' during the show, which is available to hear now via BBC iPlayer along with the interview.
