Robbie Williams took to Twitter last night, feeling the need to share the details of the birth of his newborn child as wife Ayda Field went into labour. Yes, really.

The couple live-tweeted and blogged about the experience on Youtube last night (Tuesday 27 October) - starting with a blunt photo of Robbie separating his wife's legs, running through the entire grizzly process and ending with a video of the former Take That star holding her hand post-birth, paying tribute to her and thanking his fans for watching...

"I’ve never been more in love, I’ve never been more proud of my wife," he said. "She’s been absolutely astonishing."

Williams added that they were "really happy and honoured that you experienced the journey with us," continuing: "We started off with the idea of the shoes, the Louboutins and it just snowballed from there.

"I hope we made you laugh in the process. It’s made the whole experience really magical, whimsical and lovely."

"No mummies were upset or harmed in the making of this video."
