Nick Cave has re-recorded a cover of Leonard Cohen’s classic song ‘Avalanche’.
The Australian songwriter first covered the track thirty years ago and the cover came to be known as one of the highlights on his debut album From Her To Eternity, which was released in 1984.
Now, Cave has re-recorded the track for the trailer for the Starz pirate drama ‘Black Sails’. Whereas the last cover’s brooding atmosphere was bombastic, Cave this time opts for more a delicate, melancholy tone with only a piano creating the ambience.

Recently, Cave surprisingly teamed up with Australian skate company Fast Times in order to create his own official skateboard. The deck features lyrics from the Bad Seeds’ Abattoir Blues song ‘Nature Boy’, as well as images from Chuck Sperry.
Cave is set to reissue more of his back catalogue this year on heavyweight 180g vinyl for the first time as well as embark on a short UK tour in April. Full dates are below. Buy tickets safely and securely with Seatwave.
