MIA in an interview with Rolling Stone has revealed details of her feud with ex-boyfriend and hit-producer Diplo as well as her terrible encounter with Oprah Winfrey.
The interview was given to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her debut album ‘Arular’ but apart from discussing the 2005 record, the most interesting part of the interview in our opinion, is when she revealed that Oprah refused to talk to her: “I met Oprah at [a TIME Magazine] party. And I was like, ‘Hey, people are gonna fucking die in my country. Like, please pay attention.’ And she was like, ‘You’re shit because you were rude to Lady Gaga and I’m not talking to you.”
When talking about her relationship with Diplo, MIA opened up about the disintegration of their relationship, saying that she feels the producer was very jealous of her: “[Diplo] literally smashed my hotel room and broke all the furniture because he was so angry I got picked up by a major label and it was the corniest thing in the world that could possibly happen… And them Missy Elliott called me for the first time… I’m sure we had a massive fight about that”
Despite the negative portrayal she paints of Diplo in this interview, the pair met up recently, and the following picture was posted on Instagram.
