A re-release to relish. Due to commercial success on a certain advert, Feist is dishing in the dosh by unleashing ‘1234’ in the charts for a second? Maybe even the third time. Nevertheless, you can’t fault this one. Making you feel all warm and wistful, delicate guitar steadies itself behind a blend of horns and battered drums, along with the priceless voice of Leslie Feist. To think that this musician used to be in a band supporting the Ramones makes everything seem a bit odd. While there are some who would call this and her new album a tad dull, it’s the subtleness of it all which is the perfect part of this song. And although you’d probably be better off spending your time watching the video for ‘1234’ than actually just listening to it, if you missed out on getting this the last couple of times, now’s your chance.
Released 15/10/2007 on Polydor.
