The track appears on Lambert's upcoming third album The Original High and features at the first single to be lifted from the final cut. Fox told Billboard he's been performing the track live around New York for years, and performs the track with some gentle strumming and whistling, completely transforming the normally upbeat song. The trip to the studio was prompted by Fox's desire "to just give people a different take on it,” he explained.
Watch Sterling Fox perform a stripped down live version of 'Ghost Town' below:
Fox was inspired to write the track with Tobias Karlsson after a trip through Nevada, just outside of L.A, where he 'stumbled upon this old ghost town' and was caught up by the idea of "disillusionment with Hollywood and the kind of fame factory approach to music that exists there.”
Lambert's version was helped along by Max Martin and Ali Payami, and Fox has contributed two more songs to Lambert's album 'Evil In The Night' and 'Another Lonely Night'. Fox is well-versed in writing for the stars, with names like Lana Del Ray, Charli XCX and Adam Levine under his belt.
