American Horror Story: Freak Show, the most talked about show on American TV at the moment, featured a bizarre cover version of David Bowie's classic 'Life on Mars'. Watch it below.
Premiered his week in the US, Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story Freak Show is a deeply creepy tale of 'carnival folk' and features everything from a clown called Twisty who tortures children to 'Lobster Boy' who uses his disability to work as a gigalo. Naturally enough it all makes a great setting for someone to deliver the line "It was the freakiest show" - something Jessica Lange's German ex-pat Elsa Mars does spectacularly.

Show creator Ryan Murphy, announced on Twitter that they were hoping to make the track available on iTunes, adding "Just wait until you see her Lana [Del Rey] cover."
The decision to include the Bowie track hasn't been entirely positive however. As Spin points out "How on earth did Elsa Mars know the words to "Life on Mars" if AHS is set in 1952 and Bowie's Hunky Dory didn't come out until 1971? Very spooky."
American Horror Story: Freak Show begins on Fox UK on 21 October at 10pm.
