Beyoncé’s photo announcing that she is pregnant with twins has broken Instagram's record for the most-liked post in the site’s history.
The picture, featuring Beyoncékneeling in front of a flower display wearing a veil and holding her pregnant stomach, was captioned with the message “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters”.
The photo received over 7 million likes within 24 hours, beating the previous record of 6.3 million held by Selena Gomez for a photo of herself drinking from a cola bottle emblazoned with her lyrics.
The Atlanta Police Department has removed a tweet about the news that was deemed “inappropriate”. The tweet read “#Beyoncé may have everyone wanting to celebrate her pregnancy, but remember no celebratory gunfire! Stay safe, Atlanta!”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z already have a five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who was born in 2012. Her new pregnancy hasn’t impeded her public activity – the singer has been announced as a headliner at California’s Coachella festival in April and also recently appeared in a special hour-long hip-hop episode of The Simpsons called The Great Phatsby, alongside Snoop Dogg, Common, George Clinton and RZA.
