The E Street Band's saxophonist Clarence Clemons has died at aged 69, it has been confirmed.
Clemons, who suffered a stroke last week in Florida, passed away yesterday (June 18) a spokesman from the band confirmed to BBC News.
In a statement Bruce Springsteen said: ''Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage.’’
After his stroke Clemons was said to be 'seriously ill' after overcoming a number of health issues over the past few months including knee and spinal surgery.
Clemons appears on Lady Gaga's new album 'Born This Way', on tracks 'Hair' and the latest video for 'The Edge Of Glory'.
