Coldplay and Lana Del Rey have been revealed as candidates for the Best Original Song categor in an Oscar shortlist that also features the likes of Lorde, Bon Iver and The Shins.
The Academy Awards have revealed a 79-song shortlist of candidates who will be in the running for an Oscar at the 87th annual awards ceremony, ahead of the official Best Original Song nominees announcement on January 15th.
All five Best Original Song Golden Globe nominations made the Oscar shortlist – Lana Del Rey's "Big Eyes" from Big Eyes, John Legend and Common's "Glory" from Selma, Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye's "Mercy Is" from Noah, Sia's Annie cut "Opportunity" and Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat" from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 – and are joined by over 70 more tracks.
Coldplay's "Miracles" from Angelina Jolie's Unbroken made the shortlist as did Bon Iver's "Heavenly Father" from the soundtrack of Zach Braff's Wish I Was Here.

The Shins "So Now What" also landed on the shortlist and Glen Campbell's heartbreaking last song "I'm Not Gonna Miss You," from his documentary Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me Read also appears.
