The world was stunned when a video emerged earlier this week that features rapper Afroman punching a female fan in the face whilst onstage, causing her to topple to the foor - and he has now apologised, when speaking live to TMZ.

The rapper was arrested and booked for assault after turning around and punching the female fan to the floor. She had appearred behind him and attempted to start dancing with him at his Mardi Gras gig in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was later released after paying a $330 bond.

Astonishingly, when asked if an incident such as this had ever occurred in the past, Afroman admitted that this was the second time he has hit a fan. Speaking to TMZ, Afroman primarily blamed his "anxiety issues", promising he would check himself into rehab in an attempt to overcome them. When asked if this had happened before, the 'Because I Got High' hitmaker said: "When I'm rapping I put my heart into it, whether people realise it or not, and I'm doing my job, and it irritates me when someone's main goal is to mess up what I'm doing."

He continued: "When I'm trying to make my bread and butter, when I'm trying to pay my taxes, I'm trying to pay my bills, I need a good show." When probed about the first instance in which he injured a fan, he admitted: "So I had this other guy do that in Cincinnati, and you know I...This is the second time this has happened, I'm gonna call a time out and I need to come up with a better plan."

He also blamed the attack on the female fan this week on the fact that he didn't "have time to medicate" before his Mardi Gras show - citing this as a possible reason for his outburst. He elaborates: "It was an early show, I usually play at night and I've had my dinner and I medicate, I get right... it was an early show, it was Mardi Gras, I had to walk like half a mile to get there, I had my frustrations to make a long story short." He also made his dissappointment in security evident, citing that the fans should not have been there to start with, and it was security's fault for not "escorting people offstage".

Although he is at least vaguely apologetic - he admits: "It was wrong, I shouldn't have slapped her with an open hand," he said. "And security should have been there... I'm just here to do me, I shouldn't, what happened shouldn't have happened." It seems as though Afroman needs to stop blaming every possible other eventuality for his behaviour, and take some responsibility for his actions.
