Guy Garvey has released the video for ‘Angela’s Eyes’, the lead single from his forthcoming debut solo album, Courting The Squall. Watch it below.

Filmed at The Carlton Club in Whalley Range, Manchester by long time video collaborators Soup Collective, the visual finds Guy and his band the focus of the attentions of a group of observing women, the concept being inspired by a documentary on London’s 60’s strip clubs.

Public morality during this period banned naked women from moving during performances, a man being employed to operate a curtain which rose and fell to allow performers to change their poses. In Guy’s video, genders are interestingly reversed and a crowd of invited friends and family of Guy and the band play their roles perfectly.

The track itself is an atmospheric cut, the song being led by sharp guitar twangs and fierce synths, with insightful lyrics from Garvey, the musician explaining, "I've been looking for my truth since God was a boy"

The Elbow frontman's debut album, ‘Courting the Squall’, is released on CD, Vinyl and download on 30 October. Limited quantities of the CD and Vinyl will also come with a lentricular sleeve.

Garvey told Gigwise, "I love being in the honest and even-handed democracy that is Elbow, but I fancy being the boss for a bit, so I'm going to do a side-project," Garvey told Gigwise. "It will either be great, and a right laugh, or a disaster, and a right laugh." Garvey added: "I don't know what to call it. I don't like the term 'solo project', because it won't be that - I'll be inviting friends to play on it. I'll let the name pick itself as it progresses."

Guy Garvey will be playing throughout the UK and Ireland throughout December. Check out the dates below and click here for tickets and more information.
